Industry: Energy Management and Utility Metering.

Challenge: EIG required a large scale power meter that aligned perfectly with the visual identity of their existing Shark product line. The primary goal was to develop a unit that utilized common parts to reduce production costs and accelerate time to market, all while delivering advanced monitoring capabilities and seamless remote access for the end user.

Solution: Vertex designed and engineered the Nexus™ 1500 Meter by harmonizing its aesthetic with the Shark family of products. Our team focused on creating injection molded components that were strictly optimized for manufacturability. By incorporating shared internal parts and integrating EIG’s Total Web Solutions, we enabled the meter to offer robust remote monitoring. This engineering choice provided users with comprehensive power usage insights without the need for specialized on site hardware.

Outcome: The Nexus™ 1500 Meter successfully enhanced the EIG product family. It provided advanced functionality through cost efficient production and reinforced Vertex’s long term collaboration with EIG in cutting edge metering solutions.

Working in Mechanical Engineering and product development since 1998, we know that the best designs are the ones that actually make it to the assembly line. The Nexus™ 1500 is a testament to how Design for Manufacturability (DFM) can transform a complex technical requirement into a market ready success.
