Vertex was entrusted with the redesign of large covers for a Jig Grinder machine, along with the design and engineering of an automatic tool changer mechanism. The primary objective was to enhance the appearance and functionality of the industrial grinding machine while ensuring user accessibility and interface remained uncompromised.
For the large covers, Vertex implemented a smart cover design featuring corner sliding doors to provide wide access to the working platform inside the machine. This design consideration was crucial for allowing easy insertion of large parts for delicate precision grinding, emphasizing the importance of accessibility in the machine's operation.
Additionally, Vertex was tasked with developing a low-cost and efficient automatic tool changer mechanism to be integrated into the machine. The mechanism, driven by a stepper motor, comprised numerous tool-holding carousels equipped with built-in splash guard protectors to safeguard the tools.
Vertex's scope of work encompassed industrial design, mechanical engineering, and production documentation for both the large covers and the tool changer mechanism. Prototyping of the tool changer mechanism was also conducted to ensure its functionality and effectiveness in real-world applications.
By delivering innovative solutions that prioritize both aesthetics and functionality, Vertex contributed to enhancing the overall performance and usability of the Jig Grinder machine, reaffirming our commitment to providing comprehensive design and engineering services for industrial applications.
