Following the triumphant launch of the Mod-Box Jukebox, Vertex received another exciting opportunity from Merit Industries, Inc., a sister company of Rowe International. Our task? To redesign an older version of a game console, setting the stage for a remarkable transformation within an aggressive production timetable.
The objectives for the new game unit were clear: to command attention with a standout presence, featuring an LED light show that dazzles in a dark environment. Additionally, the unit had to prioritize user-friendliness, ergonomic correctness, and cost reduction compared to existing units in production.
To achieve these ambitious goals, the Vertex design team proposed a revolutionary approach: an injection-molded exterior cover design complemented by an aluminum mounting support structure for all internal components. This innovative design ensured durability, sleek aesthetics, and cost-effectiveness—all essential elements for success in the competitive gaming industry.
The redesigned game unit boasted a host of features, including a 19” touch screen, secure cash collection for credit card processing, bills, and coin collection, all within a vandal-proof construction. Despite its advanced capabilities, the unit was designed with ease of maintenance and serviceability in mind, ensuring seamless operation and longevity.
With Vertex's expertise and innovation at the forefront, Merit Industries, Inc. now boasts a game console that not only captivates audiences with its LED light show but also delivers unparalleled functionality, user experience, and cost efficiency. It's a testament to our commitment to pushing boundaries and delivering groundbreaking solutions in product design and engineering.
