For the EM Super-Jet Printing Press project, Vertex was tasked with designing and engineering a 6" cylinder, two-color envelope printing press featuring a multi-purpose envelope feeder. Our responsibilities encompassed the design and engineering of exterior covers, as well as plastic and sheet metal parts.
Our primary objective was to identify the most suitable manufacturing method for producing low quantities of the unit per year, while also laying the groundwork for future iterations of the product family. To achieve this, we opted for RIM (Reaction Injection Molding) for manufacturing all plastic large-scale covers, coupled with sheet metal fabrication for backend cabinetry and safety covers.
Moreover, we anticipated the expansion of the product family and accordingly designed two additional presses: the Jet EM and the EM 5000–4000. This approach ensured a coordinated overall appearance across the product line while maximizing efficiency in manufacturing and assembly.
